it has come to my attention (thanks, [info]corivax!) that my user icon entitled "kittylove" is not, as i had originally intended, a touching depiction of monkey-kitty lovin', but, instead, and disturbingly, an "Icon of a monkey STRANGLING a KITTEN!"

so, i turn to you, my friends, to see which it actually is.

Wouldn't a strangled kitten be looking a little more...I don't know, perturbed? Ears flattened? Eyes bugging out? Also, why would a baboon strangle something? Or is that a macaque? Anyway, don't they usually just grab and bite, maybe pound?

i'm not sure what sort of "monkey" it is, but i think it is a macaque. hmm... perturbed kitten... hmm! now i'm thinking about pounding, eeeeee!

i hold that is it sweetly loving the kitten :)

Yeah, when I strangle my kittens, they definitely look more perturbed. Of course they also look perturbed when I hug them. I think it's just in my cats' natures to be perturbed...

First the monkey does not look like it's in a belligerant enough mood to strangle the kitten. Second the kitten is sitting and putting up with the monkey's ministrations. Third, the picture is open to interpretation so anyone can read anything into it. Conclusion, there's nothing wrong with you for asking the question, there is something wrong with whomever saw violence in such a cute picture, and caused you to question yourself.

Ignore the idiot. Love you babe,

John

well, the person who said this isn't an idiot by any stretch of the imagination, and i don't think it was that they saw violence in the image, just that it didn't look like the kitty was having all that much fun :)

and i didn't feel bad about their take on the image -- it actually made me giggle :) -- but then i did start to wonder if maybe i wasn't seeing something that everyone else could see. when i looked at it, i could imagine the kitty thinking, "man, stupid monkey, you're wringing my neck!"

but thanks for your words of encouragement -- you're always so sweet to me :)
